Graphic design

Volcano Graph is a full-service graphic arts atelier in Goudi, Athens — not a standard copy shop but a production studio covering everything from digital printing and UV flat printing to laser engraving, wooden constructions, 3D printing, gold and silver foil embossing, invitation design, and medical X-ray printing. The visual identity had to communicate this breadth and technical capability while remaining accessible to the broad range of walk-in and professional clients the location serves: students, designers, doctors, architects, and local businesses in equal measure.

The brand’s “Volcano” name was the design starting point — bold, energetic, and memorable. A deep near-black background with volcanic red-orange accents gives the site immediate visual character, well above the generic blue-and-white aesthetic of most print shop websites. The logo — clean wordmark with a light variant for dark surfaces — was designed to work across both digital touchpoints and physical print collateral.

Each service category was given its own illustrative icon — custom-designed graphics for Digital Printing, Creative Department, Bookbinding, UV Printing, Engraving, Wooden Constructions, Invitations, 3D Printing, and more — creating a visual service menu on the homepage that allows a first-time visitor to orient immediately without reading dense paragraph copy. The homepage hero uses a Slider Revolution sequence cycling through the most visually dramatic services — UV prints, laser engraving, large-format posters, roll-up banners — leading with the most striking outputs rather than the most common ones.

Design approach

The site serves multiple audiences with very different needs arriving through very different paths: a student who needs a thesis bound and printed (Εργασίες – Πτυχιακές / Διπλωματικές), a doctor near the adjacent Children’s Hospital needing X-rays printed or digitised, an architect needing large-format technical drawings, a small business needing custom stamps or signs, and a couple planning their wedding invitations. Each service page was written and structured for its specific audience, with technical specifications (UV printing on surfaces up to 110×70cm with up to 30cm height, materials including plexiglass, wood, glass, marble, aluminium, metal, magnet, stone) surfaced as practical information rather than buried in body copy.

The location — opposite the Children’s Hospital (Νοσ. ΠΑΙΔΩΝ) on Goudi — is a significant commercial detail and was built into the site’s contact section explicitly. For the medical imaging audience (X-rays, MRIs, CT scans from CD or digital format), proximity and the ability to walk in and collect is as important as the service itself. This audience was given dedicated service page treatment acknowledging both printing and digitisation/scanning workflows.

The “Έντυπο εδώ και τώρα” (Print here and now) positioning statement on the homepage captures the core value proposition: immediate, same-day, walk-in production rather than online ordering and waiting. The design reinforces this at every level — prominent phone number in the header, Google Maps link in the footer, opening hours clearly displayed — making it frictionless to visit in person.

Technical build

The site was built on WordPress with a custom theme, delivering the dark brand aesthetic precisely without the limitations of off-the-shelf themes. Slider Revolution powers the homepage hero sequence, cycling through the business’s most visually striking service outputs. Navigation uses a structured dropdown mega-menu to organise the fourteen-plus service categories into logical groups, preventing the breadth of the offering from overwhelming first-time visitors.
